Why has everyone latched on to the "i"? Aside from Apple's i-line, we now have iGoogle, iBloglines and a plethora of other companies latching on to the"i". iget it, it's supposed to make their product or service seem more personalized; just for me. But the problem is over saturation. There are so many i's there is no longer differentiation. What iwould like to see is more creativity in the branding because frankly, i've had it.
You have reminded me of that moment during at the height of the dot-com era when it seemed to me that the use of "e-" had been way overdone. It was slapped on any word to make it seem new and trendy (e-business, e-trends, e-finance, e-publishing). And sure enough, it was. Shortly thereafter came the crash.
So, what do you think will be the next popular and overused vowel? The "a"? Perhaps the "u" to counter the overuse of "i"?

If community building keeps going the way it has on the Web, I say it will be the "u". u-business, u-commerce...because it's all about u!
